Extend existing Salesforce email notifications to Custom Objects

Currently, the Jira Salesforce connector has the ability to notify the owner of a Case record in Salesforce by email when a comment is added to a Jira ticket associated to a Salesforce Case.  I would like to see this wonderful capability extended to Custom Objects as well.  We currently have a Custom Object connected to Jira Service Desk project.  It would be great if the Connector could send an email to the owner of the Salesforce record as it currently does for Cases.  This seems like it would be a logical next step.
