The Jira Comments component displays comments from the associated Jiras, but also displays the comments from the Case in Salesforce. These comments don't take whitespace into account (new lines don't display properly), and we're already using Salesforce's built-in component to display case comments, which is more full-featured.
We need the ability to only show comments from the Jiras in the Jira Comments tab, without adding the Salesforce comments.

This is really important. Duplicating information in SalesForce is a no value add.

I think this really needs to be updated as a lot of users don't need salesforce case comments to appear on the jira comment component.

Agreed, the LEX component in Salesforce should only display comments posted in Jira, not Case Comment records created inside of Salesforce.

As a user using only 1 way connection (Jira towards SF), I only need Jira comments within "Jira comments" part in Salesforce
Because this is the R&D dedicated part in SF where Customer Support will be able to see their updates from Jira tasks, it should not be mixed with CS and final customer comments
