By default Confluence send a notification (Mail) to all user mentioned inside a page using "@" so for example if inside a page I include the name of my collegue like @marco.viali, Confluence recognize that this is a mention of a Confluence user and send a mail to him.
Inside scaffolding rich text area is possible to include in the same way Confluence User, but no notification is sent.
I think this could be a very useful feature
